Gratz: OUM Owes Victims of Reverse Discrimination an Apology
(Lansing) - Today, Jennifer Gratz, Executive Director of the Michigan Civil Rights Initiative released the following statement: "Once again, the supporters of race and gender preferences, have chosen to attack people and distort the facts rather than debate the issue. By attacking my father, they have stooped to a new low. They owe me and my father an apology."
"The question is: Do you trust David Waymire or the United State Supreme Court? The U.S. Supreme Court ruled in Gratz v. Bollinger that the University of Michigan was discriminating against white applicants for years," said Gratz.
"Dave Waymire is a hired political gun. This issue was real life for my father and me. Mr. Waymire is doing what he does best, tear people down with personal attacks to help his clients," said Gratz.
"There is no place in Michigan for this type of smash mouth, gutter ball politics. Mr. Waymire owes my father and all of those who have been victims of reverse discrimination in Michigan an apology immediately," said Gratz.
"The Supreme Court was clear. The University of Michigan was carrying out a systematic process of discrimination. I'm surprised that any of the University's allies would have the gall to claim that Jennifer was not a victim of reverse discrimination especially after the U.S. Supreme Court ruled she was," said Terry Pell attorney for the Center for Individual Rights.
The Michigan Civil Rights Initiative Committee (MCRI), a Michigan-based Ballot Question Committee, is dedicated to giving the people of Michigan the opportunity to end preferential treatment based on race, gender, ethnicity, or national origin by state or local governments. MCRI will make Michigan a place of equal opportunity for all, not a state that uses discrimination as a tool to create "diversity." Achieving "diversity" should never be an excuse to discriminate!
