MCRI Executive Director condemns University Guide
"This voter guide lacks scholastic integrity"
Today, Jennifer Gratz, Executive Director of the Michigan Civil Rights Initiative (Proposal 2), condemned a voter guide issued by the Center for the Study of Complex Systems at the University of Michigan.
"This report lacks merit and integrity" said Gratz, "The authors refused to gather information from all sides of the debate. It is a sad day when supposed scholars from the University of Michigan put their personal prejudices ahead of the integrity of their work."
The guide's authors, Scott E. Page and Elizabeth Suhay, gathered information from a number of sources including professors, politicians and activists. They specifically gathered information from David Waymire, the spokesperson for One United Michigan, which is a ballot initiative committee opposed to Proposal 2. However, they did not even alert Gratz or any member of the Proposal 2 staff to inform them the University was publishing a voter guide.
"It is totally irresponsible to solicit input from the opposition, but not from the proponents of Proposal 2. We would gladly have given time to the authors to help them put together a fair and accurate representation of the issue. I hope that people are able to see past this deception," said Gratz.
The Michigan Civil Rights Initiative Committee (MCRI), a Michigan-based Ballot Question Committee, is dedicated to giving the people of Michigan the opportunity to end preferential treatment based on race, gender, ethnicity, or national origin by state or local governments. MCRI will make Michigan a place of equal opportunity for all, not a state that uses discrimination as a tool to create "diversity." Achieving "diversity" should never be an excuse to discriminate!
