Gratz says "Legalized Discrimination" not the Solution
"Proposed Kalamazoo County Commission resolution is divisive"
(Kalamazoo) -- Today Jennifer Gratz, Michigan Civil Rights Initiative (MCRI) Executive Director, will speak at the Kalamazoo County Commission meeting at 7:00pm urging commissioners to defeat a resolution opposing the Michigan Civil Rights Initiative.
"It is unfortunate that the Kalamazoo County Commission would even consider marginalizing themselves through their support of racial and sex preferences. The Michigan Civil Rights Initiative (MCRI) ballot language is modeled after the 1964 Civil Rights Act. The initiative should not be opposed because of the myths being spread by big business, big government and big labor who are opposed to equal treatment under the law" said Gratz.
"With a potential vote today the Kalamazoo County Commissioners risk alienating the thousands of County residents who signed the petitions to get the MCRI on the ballot. Michigan's renewal begins by creating a culture of equality not the old batch of race and gender preferences," said Gratz
The Michigan Civil Rights Initiative Committee (MCRI), a Michigan-based Ballot Question Committee, is dedicated to giving the people of Michigan the opportunity to end preferential treatment based on race, gender, ethnicity, or national origin by State or local governments.
MCRI will be on the November 7th general election ballot. MCRI will make Michigan a place of equal opportunity for all, not a State that uses discrimination as a tool to create "diversity." Achieving "diversity" should never be an excuse to discriminate!
